Isabella Kung was born and raised in Hong Kong. Growing up, she always had a passion for drawing and reading. Often spending hours prowling through the library as her mother ran errands; creating her own narrative for her stuffed animals and doodling over all her textbooks… anything to make her dull concrete world more colorful. Seeking new adventures, she traveled to United States with nothing more than two full suitcases and eventually settling down in the beautiful city of San Francisco.

Her ever-growing love for fun and fantastical stories gravitated her towards the world of Children's book. There she has been inspired, moved and completely captivated. She hopes to evoke the same emotions in her readers. Her work has recently won the Silver Medal in the Society of Illustrator LA’s Illustration West 56th Annual Competition, Portfolio Best in Show at the SCBWI 2016 Golden Gate Conference, and featured on the cover of SCBWI Bulletin Spring 2017 issue. Her illustrations have received accolades from institutions/organizations such as the Society of Illustrators (NY & LA), 3x3, Creative Quarterly and SCBWI.

In addition to being an author/illustrator, Isabella is also an Adjunct Instructor at the Academy of Art University. When she isn't working, you can find her seeking new experiences, drawing in her sketchbook or cuddling up with her two fluffy cats and one wonderful husband indulging in their favorite shows.
